New Highlanders Football Club coach Hendrik Peter de Jongh’s will face arch rivals Dynamos in his first assignment as the Bosso coach after he was unveiled at the club offices on Friday.

Highlanders, who last lost to Dynamos in June 2015, will face the Harare ‘fading’ giants on Sunday at Rufaro Stadium in the Chibuku Super Cup, the biggest knockout tournament in the country, whose winners earn a ticket to represent the country in the Caf Confederation Cup tournament.

De Jongh is replacing Mandla ‘Lulu’ Mpofu who had been elevated to the biggest coaching job in Zimbabwe after the departure of Madinda Ndlovu.

Bosso will be hoping to continue with their Wednesday form that saw them thumping relegation threatened Bulawayo Chiefs three goals to one.

De Jongh, 48, from the Netherlands, started his coaching career in 1990 as a 20 year old rookie following a career ending injury.
He has also had stints in Kenya, South Africa, Rwanda, Swaziland as well as Caf headquarters.

The nomadic coach has coached an incredible 22 football clubs in a career spanning 29 years. Mandla Mpofu will assist De Jongh.

Quized if he is guaranteeing to maintain Bosso’s fours dominance over Dynamos in his first assignment De Jongh responded…“From my research I understand that it’s a big match for both teams and we are working hard to win. But such matches anything is possible we will fight to make it.

De Jongh first applied for the Bosso coaching job in 2015 but lost out to Elroy Akbay, another Dutchman.

I have a good feeling about this team and my new job. I have researched about the club and I was recommended to apply for this job by my friend Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha in 2015. It’s going to be a good adventure for both the team and myself,” he said.
