President Emmerson Mnangagwa arrived in Mt Hampden on Wednesday morning to assess progress on the Chinese-funded New Parliament of Zimbabwe Complex.
He was accompanied by Vice Presidents Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi.
Presidential Spokesperson George Charamba said, “The 700-seat Parliament is near completion and will be part of the signature programmes of the Second Republic. The main structure will be completed in three days time, with the rest of the works concluding by year-end.”
The former Ministry of Information Permanent Secretary said the project has employed more than 800 people and will also house the Office of the President and a Justice complex.
“More than 800 jobs have been created by the project which marks the beginning of a new city in the Mt Hampden Area. Also slotted for putting up is the Justice Complex as well as Office of the President, thus completing symbolic presence of three arms of the State.”
