Kasukuwere Cries Foul As Mnangagwa Govt Goes After Farm He Grabbed

Former Zanu PF National Political commissar and G40 kingpin Saviour Kasukuwere has cried foul as he is set to lose his farm. President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government has since advised the former cabinet minister that they intend to withdraw the offer later for his Concorpia Farm. Kasukuwere grabbed the Cornucopia Farm from Interfresh in 2006.  He is also reported to have grabbed part of Pimento Farm in Mashonaland Central, South Bamboo Creek in Shamva, Harmony Farm in Mazowe, Bretton Farm, Allan Grange Farm, Auchenburg Farm, and Bourne Farm.

Some of the victims of the land grabs are Oliver Newton of Pimento and N. Richards and R. Morkel of South Bamboo Creek.

The letter which was written by Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement, Perrance Shiri said that the huge farm which is 556 Hectares needs to downsized for replanning purposes.

Kasukuwere was clearly aggrieved by the decision and went to vent his anger and frustration on social media. Writting on Twitter, the former mandarin claimed that he was being persecuted and accused the Mnangagwa government of using land as a political tool. Said Kasukuwere,

Zimbabwe ~ Land Reform: Political persecution continues but we shall overcome. (The) land has now become a fully blown political weapon.

…275 ha of arable land and the rest mountains and rivers. We have done our best to keep the farm going. We are in the midst of a drought and the few productive farms get attacked. Time will tell.

The Minister did not find much sympathy on the streets of Twitter as many people took the chance to remind him that had also grabbed the farm from other people and that he had supported the weaponising of land against perceived enemies when he was still in power.

Kasukuwere is no the first former high ranking minister to fall foul of the Mnangagwa government. Fellow G40 kingpin and self-exiled former cabinet minister Profesor Jonathan Moyo has also cried foul after his farm was also targeted. He is currently battling to retain ownership of the farm at the courts.
